Tata Winger
Winger – More than a Camper Van!
Tata Winger is a people carrier in the segment of camper vans. This vehicle by Tata has few direct competitors and is targeted for both travels within city as well as rural travel. It meets the BS III emissions rules and Tata gives a warranty of 18 months/1.5 lakh km. Besides, its boxy design, it is expected to do capture the unique market segment it holds as a budget transportation carrier.
ENGINE & RIDE HANDLING:
Tata Winger comes housed with a 1948cc diesel engine that provides a power of 90bhp @ 4800 rpm, and cranks peak torque at 190Nm at 2000rpm. The engine is engineered to be torquey so as to take on both urban and rural roads with ease.
The ride handling is well met out with the help of the McPherson struts in the front and the rear side gets the parabolic leaf spring. Traditionally, such choices in suspension designing are made so as to improve stability with added attention to rear occupant comfort. This is a good thing, as it also tries to nullify the load carriage.
The Tata Winger, being a people’s carrier meant for both rural and urban usage has gone through extensive Noise, Vibration & Harshness tests (NVH). For better drivability, the car comes with power steering.
DESIGN AND COMFORT:
The design of Tata Winger comes across very minimalistic, and looks business! The interiors appear to be comfortable and spacious. It can easily accommodate 9 to 13 passengers and has enough legroom as well as head room. There is additional space to fit in luggage. The seating is front faced designed and is cleverly conceived with all the cubby holes at the right places. For instance, there are magazine pockets, well thought out ‘grab lamps’ and also a music system to add to the premium model look.
There are reclining seats and passenger seats at the back have individual arm rests. All the seats are of ‘bucket’ ergonomically designed, as standard. At the back, the ceiling of the car has roof-mounted vents for uniform air-conditioning.
