TATA Nano – India’s SMART car
The most internationally acclaimed car – Nano comes from the ingenuity of India’s largest commercial and passenger car maker Tata Motors. It is believed to be the dream project for Ratan Tata and his team of engineers to come with a small car which will be a budget car first & foremost, and which at the same time won’t compromise on quality, drivability, comfort and safety. Nano was a result of such an engineering challenge. Although, cars of this cadre exists in Europe called the ‘Smart’, Tata’s Nano is fiercely priced to make it a common man’s car, so much so that, it has received numerous accolades and attention from the automotive community, world-over.
ENGINE:
Tata Nano is powered by 0.6L, 624cc, 2-cylinder with MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection System) petrol engine and is equipped with a four speed manual gearbox. Despite its lower capacity, it can effortlessly produce a maximum power of 35PS with the maximum torque of 48Nm. This makes Tata Nano easily climb up the 100kmph mark without any undue noise and vibrations. It is the first time in Indian auto industry when a car has been conceived with a power of two cylinder engine.
DESIGN AND COMFORT:
In terms of comfort and convenience Tata Nano is a car that has been developed keeping in mind that the car boot space offers enough room to the customer for head & leg space. Considering the fuel economy the Tata Nano, the credit goes to its engine which is frugal on fuel consumption. It offers rear-wheel drivability to the car with its two cylinders of 623 cc displacement.
Interior of Tata Nano is a delight with dual tone dashboard and is packed with advanced instrument cluster which is placed at the centre console of the dashboard. Some other features that make Tata Nano interiors more stylish includes - Complete Fabric Seat Upholstery, Fabric Insert Door Trim etc.
The design of Tata Nano is such that it maintains the weight under control, through maximization of car's performance in terms of energy consumed. Structural integrity wise, Tata Nano has a steel body, which is developed to provide a strong passenger compartment with many safety features including crumple zones, intrusion-resistant doors, seat belts, strong seats and anchorages, and the rear tailgate glass attached to the body of the car. In addition to this, Tubeless tyres provide better control over the road while the vehicle is on the drive, thereby adding to safety.
